There is a popular saying that one can turn adversity into opportunity through perseverance, determination and creativity. This method of turning the lemons life throws at us into lemonade is something many believe to be archaic or cliché. But is it really? Of course not! So let's change that idea by taking a long voyage to the '80s and '90s and delving into the amazing story of Dana Elaine Owens popularly known as Queen Latifah.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Queen Latifah is a legend in the world of hip-hop that started from a humble beginning and was able to overcome different obstacles through unwavering determination. Starting from her days of spitting rhymes to the period when she became a Grammy-winning rapper, she has been breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes. Her commitment to authenticity and lyrical prowess has been the foundation for her remarkable career.
As a teenager, Queen Latifah started beatboxing for the hip-hop group "Ladies Fresh" . However, she didn't venture into music officially until the late 80s.
